what do beta testers really mean when they say:

We need permadeath. = I am bored

We want live content. = I am bored

Can i participate in beta? = I am bored.

When is the next update?       =    I am bored.
Your forum post sucks idiot =   I am bored.

Now what did any of that have to do with the game they are testing?   NOTHING.

LOL! That's great. We have a job as storytellers to keep them interested. I hope it will evolve into a medium where we're giving people content on such a frequent basis, it'll be like giving them the nightly news. I know that sounds ambitious, but I don't care. We can't stay where we're at.

As far as the bored people, I've realized a lot lately that some people make a sound just to see who will turn to them and pay them attention. I'm not saying that it isn't good to pay attention to people who need it, but it's given me clarity on the way I approach conversations.

Yes! It will happen.  I wonder if it will take a game which allows players to input content to do it.     But surely before it comes to that someone will start inputing original music, art, and other content to enrich the ingame enviornment.
ie: this week name artist in the Real world will be debut an original score for tonights event.
I used to think live content was the holy grail of constant content, but from my experiences it currently is for uber players only.   ( Wish, MatrixOnline)

Or maybe we need to kick all the beta player spoilers out so that a rich and complex world is not reduced to fansite info before the game even releases!!   ( stop gap measure)
