Big Sudden Changes

Things really do happen fast these days. Real Life has suddenly demanded all of my time (for a good reason, thank heaven!). I had recently hired a model for the clothing designs and when I got the news yesterday she graciously offered to take over the Design Center. Relief!

Her name is Troiana. She is perky and enthusiastic -- she has shown me some designs she put together. I know she will do well. She's just taken possession of the new site I had been planning to put up. You can find it here: Cavern Arts Designs

Into the Design Woods

Well, I'm branching out, all right. I tried an easy texture I had set aside for furniture and wow! What didn't do a thing for upholstery looked great on clothing. Go figure. So I tried something a bit more detialed and that looked ok, too. I have one complete outfit so far, lol. I like it so much I bought it myself. That says a lot, because I hate clothes shopping!

But I find I enjoy putting together designs. It will be a nice addition to the Cavern Arts Gallery and Pub. Now I have even more reason to get into gear and get that place looking snazzy. Thank goodness there is collision on the street now, too. I was dreading laying all that brick and cement. I'd much rather lay stiches and seams.

I can't wait until they let us design long dresses and skirts! Whoot!

Sensible Raving

I'm glad to see that the direction of some of the Raving for World Fame is moving in a more Sensible direction. If there is such a thing as sensible raving, I guess I'd like to see it. Thank goodness no one gets points for getting personal raves. That sets up a terrible situation for self-confidence. I'm really glad to hear we will get points for raving others and their hang-outs. That's the way karma should go, I think. Positive energy toward others and we'll get it back when it comes around our way.

The New Building Materials

The new building materials are in at the lumber yard. They are really great, and yet we still want more flexibility! lol. Are we builders never satisfied? Probably not. But they are really nice to have.

The new client came with the new update -- it does indeed load faster and the whole program works much better on my older computer. I can actually see all the textures and wall patterns. Very, very nice indeed!

Back to building

I rather like the island deed that is now available. Have to think about what I ought to put there. Something Myst-ish comes to mind. Or more mysterious, and secretive. Somewhere nice to explore or sit and think.

For now, I'm back to working on the groves and the Tea Room. It is interesting how different they are, and what different textutres each needs.

Unhappy with new World Fame

I object to the direction Kaneva is sending young people in with this World Fame promotion. There is enough insecurity and need to be accepted without being forced to show that they are accepted through the standards that "raving" demonstrates. Get points for being raved. Get points for getting people to rave their hangout. Get "Fame" points for changing clothes? What does that mean?

How about points for being yourself? full sentences? correct grammar? spelling? Raving someone else? How about points for "On the way to fame and fortune" Oh brother.... You don't get points for not swearing in public, or for restraining your temper. "How do I make people rave me?" And what happens when you don't get raved?

I liked Kaneva back in March of 2008. I still like the way we can build. But I don't like the social culture they are emphasizing. And I can't stand the fact that there is always music blasting in the park these days.

I suppose I get points for posting this blog entry complaining about "World Fame"

Keepin' on keepin' on

Busy life, working on the house and communities. RL is keeping me very busy. I guess I should post a bit about some progress I've been able to make.

Professor Jurante Lekato made contact with me about the disappearing trees. I don't know what to tell her. I hadn't noticed anything like that. I think she's too worried about the medieval forests and the count's deer. She seems somewhat preoccupied with that. I've been busy looking for the Little Box. Rachel said it might be on the PeachTree Island. I think I'll take a look.

Sadness without the Cavern

On Wednesday night/Thursday morning (April 9/10 @ 21:01 KI Time) the gate to the Cavern was closed. We all sat there out side of it just staring at it as if it would magically reopen.

I am glad I started building the Healers' Groves here before the closure. It gave me somewhere to go and something to keep busy doing. We never did find the Healer's Age Book in the Cavern, but then again, we didn't get to look in every corner. For now the Groves will do. Maybe some old Healers will find us and come to say hello. That would be something.

Confession

The mystery is still just that -- a mystery. Since I've met Grenoreth I've wanted to tell him what I found. Better not, though. Something tells me to wait. And I'm not sure it matters anyway, especially since the Little Box disappeared. Can't fix what isn't there, even if it is broken.

Met lots of new friends, and some old friends from Uru. Altydwarber and Verasol stopped by the Healer's Groves yesterday. Got to show them what I've been up to. Met a really nice lady yesterday too. Rachel McSandbox. She's really funny and full of ideas and energy. Says she's working with some guy in some kind of research. Don't know -- we were all talking so fast.

Sure miss Ruby, though. I get her into trouble, I know, but she forgives me every time. If she ever comes over here I promise I won't say anything to make her jump up and do something crazy.

Making Progress

Slow going lately. The Art Gallery is coming together, now that I figured out how to hang artwork properly. Opened it up to the public even if we're not quite ready for an open house yet.

Illness really gets in the way of traveling in-world. Wow. Get well, get to work. Or not. I guess I'll know what to do when I get there.

Making a home

I have met some great people here. Others are not so great, but maybe that's just their personality and I can leave them alone.

I've started working on the CavernArts Gallery and the Guild of Healer's Grove. I got the music to work in the Grove -- it's my favorite Myst and Uru music, of course, and wonderful to work by.

I've also got a few pieces of artwork on the walls at the Gallery -- but who thought up the idea that we'd never need frames with portrait orientation? Everything has to be hung in landscape, and the frames are way to small! Portrait images have to be framed before I hang them or stretched to make them square. Yuk! I tried the easel, and backed it into the wall, but that silly pedestal sticks out like a crazy grin. Sheesh!

Went to a few homes and hang outs over the last few days. Wow, some are really amazing! Gave me a bit of inspiration. I prepared several textures before coming in today -- some look darn good. Others look dumb, but maybe I'll find a place for them. Lots of stuff to build and cover, so I won't trash anything just yet. Made a couple I think I'll give out to the community. See what someone else can do with it.

Making Sense of it all

Here I am in Kaneva, trying to figure out what it is all about. A friend asked me to try it, so I did. Came over because this is something of the brainchild of someone who worked with/on/in relation to Uru. I will look around some more, but I have to say I am skeptical. At least I could buy some land and build a Healing Age or a stables for horses, should they ever get them here. That would be really cool.
