1.   Do I have to be a Kaneva member to upload media?

Yes, you do need to be a Kaneva member, so join Kaneva now! Then you can upload media, display it in your channel(s),  share it with other members, your family and friends, and the world. 


2.   What type of media can I upload?

Kaneva lets you upload and display many of the most common types of video, audio and photo file formats.  We convert  all video files to Macromedia Flash format to ensure more users can enjoy your video.  Here is a chart outlining media  formats we accept:

 

Video Audio Photo Games
ASF, AVI, DIVX, FLV, M4V, MOV, MP2, MP4, MPA, MPE, MPEG, MPG, QT, SWF (Flash)*, WMV MP3 JPEG, GIF SWF (Flash)

* Note: SWF files initially upload as games. If you upload SWF video files, you’ll need to edit the ‘My Media Library’  media item and change the file type to Video.


 

3.   Can I upload multiple media files at once?

After you sign in, you can upload up to 5 media files at once.  In addition, you can upload any mix of media types  simultaneously, such as 2 videos, 1 photo, 1 music file, and 1 flash game.


 

4.   Is my media automatically accessible to the public when I upload?

All your media, with the exception of video, will go live to the Kaneva audience and the world within minutes. To be  easily viewable to the widest possible audience, your videos will be converted to Flash format, a process which may  require up to one business day.


 

5.   Is there a limit to how much media I can upload to Kaneva?

There’s no limit to the number of media files, but each media file must be limited to 100 MB and a maximum of 10 minutes.


6.   How long do my media stay on Kaneva?

Your media files remain on Kaneva as long as you maintain your Kaneva account 


 

7.   How can users find my media?

There are a number of ways to make sure everyone can find your media:

 

  • The best way is to provide a good description and great tags that describe the media.
  • Get people to Rave your media to boost its popularity and visibility.
  • Use the Share button to spread the word about your media (and Community) to friends and family who have not yet joined Kaneva


8.   What is a Rave?

A Rave is how Kaneva members say, “Hey, I like this.”  Click the Rave button whenever you see something that impresses  you.   The media and channels that generate the most Raves rise to the top of Kaneva’s top lists.  Here’s a tip: Rave  yourself or your media to get the ball rollingbut your can only self-rave once!

 




9.   Can I delete my media?

Yes you can, but do take note of the impact it might have on others. On Kaneva, members who like your media may connect  to it in a variety of ways -- they may send the link to their friends, add it to their collections or refer to it in their  blog. When you delete the file, you also delete their access to the media.


 

10.   Does Kaneva claim any ownership of my media once I upload it?

No, Kaneva does not claim ownership to your media. To paraphrase the Kaneva user agreement, Kaneva can use your uploaded  media in accordance with your settings, until you decide to delete the media file.
