Recap on Playlists

You did watch the video My Media Uploads right?

Making playlists wasn't really that hard was it? Let recap just in case.

We are wanting to separate our media into folders, called playlists, in such a way as we want them to be displayed. At least into groups to be sent to a method of displaying them. Here is how that is done again

Open your My Media Uploads by clicking on the My Media Uploads tab located close to the middle of the top part of your page. This opens your Media Library.
Click the View Playlists button.
Click the add playlist button
Name the playlist and save... Which will add that playlist to the media playlists area.
Go back up top and click the Media Library
Choose which media type you are going to make a playlist for by clicking on Videos, Photos, Music, Games, or Connected Media tab.
Click to place a check mark by each file you wish to add to the playlist
In the actions area drop down the menu and choose which playlist you want to add those files.

Now you have made and added content to playlists. No to choose which playlist will be used where.

Go to the page you wish the pictures or music etc to be displayed.(click the My Profile button)
Choose the widget you wish to display the files and click edit.
In the new window go to the Show only photos from ...drop down the menu and choose teh playlist you wish to have used.

Changing your Profile Layout

We each have our own vision about what should be located where on our pages. That is what changing your profile layout is all about. Kaneva has provided a base CSS coded area which is easy to use. (once you have a little understanding) They have given us several standardized areas to use, called widgets. We can place those widgets on our page in any order we choose. Using more than one of any particular type of widget if we choose. We can modify the look of the widget also, but that will be a later class. Now lets recap the video.

Up just above your page are the tabs, Edit, Layout, Design, etc. Click on Layout.

Lets take a moment to look at that page that just opened. To the left upper portion you will see two buttons one for Add a Page, and one to Delete Selected. This is where you can add pages to your profile site or delete them. Below those buttons is the Widgets Panel where all the different types of widgets you can use are located. I suggest you experiment with those widgets on a new page you create just to see what each looks like. To the right of the widget panel is the page layout which is broken into three sections. The Header, any widget put there covers the whole width of the page, the body, which is divided into a right section and a left section and the division line will slide to make your sides different sizes, and the footer where again any widget put there covers the whole width of the page. Any time you choose a widget from the widget panel and click the add button the widget will be added to the header and you must move it to one side or the other of the body, if you don't want it in the header or footer. Once you rearrange you widgets don't forget to click the save button!
