Commerce Idea
 
As many people know from other 3D communities, there are many different ways to develop depending on what community you were part of but there were things that deterred developers away from producing on one end and there were too many poor quality items created at whim on the other end.  I might have an idea here that can be molded into a great way for both developers and WoK to work together.
 
What is required for this to work:
  • Member volunteers that will be compensated with virtual credits to perform a job.
  • Developers, of course

Ok here goes.  Developers will create items for the world.  There are a lot of flags that come up with the process of developing to make sure that everyone is happy.  Some that come to mind are...

  • Quality of the item
  • Value of the item
  • Ability to comply with the terms and agreements (such as inappropriate material)  
  • The manpower needed to evaluate all the submission that will be entered
As I mentioned that these are just some of the concers with building items for the world that will come up.  Some worlds charge for everything a developer does, which deters developers from building.  Others are very lax about the items let into the world, which will mean many poor quality items and many inappropriate items enter the world.  Here is my idea.
 
To develop in the world is free.  Developers must submit their items to Quality Control with an insurance deposit which will be a flat price (which will be called [Deposit].)  The insurance deposit is to cover any item that is considered inappropriate.  If an item is declared inappropriate then the insurance deposit is confiscated and deposited into the Quality Control team bank, otherwise it is refunded in full to the Developer.  The developer decides on what the final cost will be for the customer (which will be called [CustCost].)  A percentage of the [CustCost] will be taken out for each time that item is sold and given to the Quality Control team bank (which will be called [QualityControl%]) to pay for the Quality Control volunteer members time.  If a Developer gives an item away the Developer must pay the [QualityControl%] of the [CustCost] for that item.  The developer has unlimited use and quantity of the item they produced for personal use only if they pay a one-time fee for the licensed personal use.  These personal use items are locked and cannot be given away or sold.
 
Notes:
  • Developer chooses cost for the customer = [CustCost]
  • Developer submits item with an insurance deposit
  • Quality Control examines item
    • If item is ok then the Developer has the privledge to sell it and the insurance deposit is returned in full
      • Each time the Developer sells one of his items a percentage [QualityControl%] gets deducted from the [CustCost] and that is what the Developer is paid for the item
      • Each time the Developer gives an item away the Developer must pay the [QualityControl%]
      • The developer can own unlimited amounts of the item in return for a one-time personal use license fee.  This can be similiar to [QualityControl%] or a flat fee, whichever is higher.
    • If the item is not ok then the Developers insurance deposit is confiscated and used to help pay for the Quality Control team's time spent to examine the item.
