AfterEngineUpdates Status

I don't know about you but the reality of the holiday season is pulling a lot of my time PLUS my companies are off the hook with needing my precious time.

I rely on Moderators to keep the AfterEnginesUpdates (AEU) forum current. Alan8807 recently asked if he could be a moderator - I said yes - and so please welcome Alan8807. That being said.... Moderators.... Please know that if the community complains about your work I will be forced to take action. So please be considerate in your work. Community Members.... If you have issues with the Moderators please send me a personal message.

We continue to add membership and that is always good. I have not been as attentive as I have in the past because the Official Kaneva Forums cover most of the needs of Kaneva in general. That being said I think AEU still serves a purpose as it is Player Run and we don't Censor your complaints. AND I think we provide a place to discuss issues that are not discussed in the Official Forums. I particularly like the discussions on Social Protocols and Behaviors. Over the past year on Kaneva I have become aware of my CyberSelf and how it affects me.

Well thats all for now - Merry Christmas to everyone... I hope you enjoy the Winter Solstice and the beginning of a new year.

AFterEngineUpdates - Status and Future

Ok... I'm not much into keeping up on blogs... But it is now September 2007. The game keeps maturing... a welcome deal for all. I suppose I should provide an update on the State of AfterEngineUpdates.

The Official Kaneva Forum is now well established and meets the purpose of the Corporation Kaneva... This Community AfterEngineUpdates (AEU) does overlap the Official Forums with regard to Update Information... However, the difference is... in the Official Forum you are Posting For the Corporation - in AEU you are posting for an interested community of players. I think the Official Forum has more injected Chaos while "ours" is more focused and has a community warmth. At least I feel that warmth.

Our Post rate is well below that of the Official Forum post rate... I think that is a good thing.

Perhaps you have noticed how I post a Blast-Events from time to time... Those are just reminders to at least take a look.

Although we may seem like an off the beaten path Community - many of the Kaneva staff browse our site... AND sometimes post comments....

All in all... I think we are doing quite well... Thanks to your participation. 9mmbooks

Kaneva Rules of Conduct

I've installed a new page that lists the Official Kaneva Rules of Conduct. Check it out in the Menus.

Kaneva is a dynamic place especially during this Open Beta Period. The Kanevan population is also a dynamic group. Some times I feel like I'm on a "merry-go-round" that is speeding up and going faster and faster. I'm trying my best to get to the center while the centrifugal force of these dynamic environments are making me dizzy and trying to throw me off. - lol - This is totally fun.

Adding New Forums

Yikes - Learning a lot of new stuff about the mechanics of Forums while managing this Community. I now wish I could do a wipe and start over. NOT TO WORRY - I won't do that. There have been so many wonderful and valuable entries. A wipe would spoil the pudding... BUT I'm a clean freak - I like things to be Zen Simple and Goggle Clean and Crisp. Sigh - A burden I must bare... ;-)

I created a new Forum called Engine Notes - This Forum is intended to provide a place for folks to share regarding their issues surrounding Engine Installation, Engine StartUps, and Engine RunTime. Hope it is useful.

The Community is Working - YES!

Hey its working. I'm so happy. On the morning of May 22, 2007 there was a small engine Update. Within hours active members in the Community tested and reported their findings here in the Community. Of course its taken on a life of its own. All sorts of Character oriented stuff is starting to appear in the Forums. Clearly I need to add more categories to place entries. Like SOCIAL PROTOCOLS or perhaps SOCIAL BEHAVIORS. AND apparently we need a Category for INSTALLATION PROBLEMS, ENGINE STARTUP PROBLEMS.

I want to thank Diva42 and KIDxROCK for taking up the jobs of Moderators. Your doing a great job.

AND Diva42 has taken on the role of Public Relations - She really gets the word out.

AND contributors - Thanks for the input. Its you that makes this Community a Success.

Added more stuff

Ok! I've been experimenting with a test forum elsewhere. Learning how to create the Forum Categories. I'm seeing the need for more than just a list of stuff after the engine gets updated. So your going to see some new Categories and Forums added on.

I've screwed up

Forums have not been my thing in the past. When I formed this forum I made an administrative mistake and now there are repeats of the topics in the main view of the forums as seen below. BUT when you click View All Topics only 2 show up as it should be. You live, you try, you get burned, you learn.
