How Down Is Your Sound? is designed to make participation easy and fun. Here is what you need to know to participate in the talent search.

What You Can Enter

We are looking for your best work in any music genre. You can submit as many entries as you like in video or audio format, as long as you follow these guidelines:

• Your song(s) must be an original composition – no rips or lip-synching, please!  All musical genres accepted.
  
• Your song should be radio-clean .  If you upload music that contains strong language, or references to sex, violence or criminal acts, you risk being eliminated from consideration.
• Do not upload the same song twice.  Make sure you get it right the first time.
• Your entry must be at least 45 seconds in length and no longer than 5 minutes
• Your song(s) must be an original composition – no rips or lip-synching, please!
• You can be a solo act, or perform as a band
• Your lyrics and performance must not contain profanity, or depictions of violence, sex, or substance abuse
• Your media uploads must meet Kaneva’s Terms & Conditions.

Media Formats You Can Submit

Kaneva lets you upload and display many of the most common types of video, audio and photo file formats. We convert all video files to Macromedia Flash format to ensure more users can enjoy your video. Here is a chart outlining media formats we accept:

How The Talent Search Works

• Submit your entry or entries during the Entry Period specified below
• All qualified submissions from registered Kaneva members will be posted on the Kaneva website within minutes of upload
• Registered Kaneva members (including Talent Search participants) will be able to cast one vote for each performance.  Members may not create multiple Kaneva user accounts to cast multiple votes for any entry.
  
• The ten participants whose songs earn the most votes from Kaneva members will be invited to participate in "The Best of the Best" sound off event to be held in Atlanta, Georgia in November 2006 (exact dates to be determined)
• In the event the online vote results in a tie, Ryan Cameron will, in his sole discretion, select the participant(s) to be considered the finalist(s)
  
• At the sound off event, each of the ten participating finalists will perform their winning song before a panel of celebrity judges and a live audience. A finalist must perform at the sound off event in order to be eligible for the prize being awarded in this Talent Search.
• The judges will select a grand prize winner based on:
  • Musicality
  • Creativity and originality
  • Performance skill
• The winning individual or group will receive:
  
• $7500 in prize money, plus a one day songwriting internship with Grammy Award winning producer Sean Garrett in Atlanta.
  
• A demo deal with Block Entertainment in Atlanta, which includes a 5-song package with Block's A-list producers and a photo shoot.   Estimated value: $50,000
  
• A free recording session at Dallas Austin's DARP Studios in Atlanta, valued at $1500
• A signed copy of Ludacris's highly-anticipated new CD, Release Therapy
  
• The results and video from the Sound Off event will be featured on the Kaneva website.

Dates and Deadlines

• Entries can be submitted online beginning Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 11:59am ET and ending Monday, October 9, 2006 at 11:59am ET (the "Entry Period").
• Voting will take place from Monday, October 9, 2006  at 12:00pm ET through Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 11:59am ET (the "Voting Period").
• The live Sound Off event will take place in Atlanta on Wednesday,  November 8th.
  

How Your Media Will Be Used:

• All qualified entries will be featured on the Kaneva website and used for promotional purposes by Kaneva
• Talent Search participants remain the copyright owner of all media content that they submit as part of the Talent Search competition
