Ka-ching! is a FREE multi-player, third person,
coin collecting, 3D shooting game played
exclusively inside the 3D World of Kaneva.
THE GOAL
Team up with your friends to find, collect, and
deposit the most coins (Ka-ching!), dodge foam
darts, and check your opponents (send them back
to the starting point) by firing foam darts.
This is a quick tutorial on how to get to and
play Ka-ching!
GETTING TO KA-CHING
There are two ways to get to the Ka-ching lobby
from inside the 3D world. The first is to click the
Activities button on your display bar. This brings
up a "What do you want to do today?" window
where you can click on the Ka-ching image and
be taken to the Ka-ching Lobby. The 2nd is to
click your Go Places button and then the Ka-ching
Lobby icon that appears on the overhead map.
IN THE LOBBY
Once in the Ka-ching Lobby you will see three NPCs.
The one in the middle sells Ka-ching armor (the armor
has no affect on game play and is for flavor and fun
purposes only). The NPCs on the right and left hand
side of the lobby bring you to the same game menus
and it doesn't matter which one you choose.
When you get close to one of the side NPCs, either
right click on them or click your TAB button when
you receive the message in order to get to the games
menu.

Next a new window will open up. This lets you see
what games are currently being played, join a game,
create a game and see how to play. At the top of
this screen you will see all games that are currently
going on. Each line shows you the name of the game,
how many players are currently in it, what the skill level
is and where the game is (in the lobby waiting to start,
or already in progress on the arena map). There can be
up to 8 players (4 on a side) in any given game.

From this screen you join a game by highlighting a particular
game that has room and clicking the join button. When you
do this a new screen opens up. You are now in a specific
game where you can chat directly with other players in that
game. You can always click on the main chat screen to talk
to other members in Kaneva (and to other members in the Lobby)
any time you like.
When you are in the specific game you wanted to join, you
are randomly assigned to either the Blue or Red team.
You can use the arrow key next to your name to switch
between teams. Click the Ready button to change the
Ready indicator light next to your name from red to green.
Once all the lights are green the game organizer can start
the game.

If you want to create your own game, click the Create
New Game button. This brings up a game screen where
you can give your game a name, can set the skill level
(this has no affect on game play but is merely a guide
for other members on what kind of game you are organizing)
to Beginner, Casual or Pro. Then you can select which type
of Arena you wish to play on: the Office or the Catacombs.

As the organizer you have further options once the game
starts: you can boot players from the game (before it starts),
can lock the game if you don't want others to join the game
(this means they also cannot join while it is in progress), you
can also make someone else the organizer if you wish. Finally
it is up to you as the organizer to start the game once everyone's
ready indicators are green.

The final option on the original game screen is the How
to Play button which takes you to the
Ka-ching webpage.
Here can be found a simple overview of the game but more
importantly, the Leaderboard and Advanced Leaderboard
pages. Here you can see how you are ranked against
other players and for your own amusement.
IN THE ARENAS
Once everyone is ready you will be teleported to your
specific Arena where only members of your game will
appear. As you enter you will notice a countdown
going on. This is to give everyone time to load as
other players may have slower computers and connections
and need a few more seconds to get in.

When you are in the Arena there are some game
indicators that will relay important information to
you. On the top left of your screen you will see
the chat area. You can talk in here by first hitting
enter in ka-ching then typing what you want. Hit
enter or escape to "refocus" back to the game.
We do not recommend chatting too much in the
Arena itself, otherwise you may found yourself
bounced a lot. The chat section also shows you
who checked who, who got bounced and who is
turning in coins.
Something you will probably want to do early on
is change your mouse sensitivity for Ka-ching.
To do this, and it only affects your game play in
Ka-ching, hit the ESC key while in the Arena and a
new window appears. This shows you how the
current game is going, as far as individual stats
go, along with giving you a player options key.
Select this key to change your mouse sensitivity.

The lower your mouse sensitivity the better the better
movement control you will have in game. Corelli says:
set it to about 10 for the best control.
The Key Controls
- To move: Use the WASD keys. W = move forward;
- S = move backward; A = strafe to the left; D = strafe
- to the right.
- To change viewpoint and direction: Move your mouse
- up, down, left and right.
- To shoot: Left-click your mouse button.
- To change weapons: Press 1, 2, or 3.
- To reload: Right-click your mouse button.
- To go to the main menu/player options: Press ESC.
Next you will see the score section. This has blue and
red icons for each team and the numbers next to the
teams indicate how many coins your team has collected
and deposited at the drop off point. There is also a
timer in the middle. Every game lasts a maximum of
5 minutes but can end a lot sooner depending on the
skill of your team to collect coins and prevent the
opposing team from dropping off their own coins.

At the bottom of the screen you will see on the left
hand side a legend of the most used key commands
for Ka-ching (more on those later). On the right
hand side is your power bar (normally called a health
bar in other games of this nature, we call it a power
bar since there is no killing in Ka-ching, only getting
bounced). On top of this is how many coins you
currently have on you. Below the bar is your foam
gun indicator. The gun that is highlighted is which
one you have equipped.

The object of Ka-ching is twofold: collect coins for your
team and prevent the other team from doing the same!
You will notice a Blue or Red gem over your avatar's head
in the Arena. This indicates which team you are on and
other members of your team have the same color over
their head. Your gem will change to a coin of the same
color once you have collected 3 coins that spawn randomly
around the arena map. You can see what each looks like
in the image below.

The coins you need to collect look like gold coins.
Easy enough, right?

Once you have collected at least 3 coins you will want
to find and deposit the coins in the arena's designated
drop off point, of which there is only one per map.
The drop off point is shown in the following screen
shot.

You will notice on your coin collector indicator that
you get a bonus for collecting and turning in higher
amounts of coins than lower amounts. When you
collect 1 or 2 you will not see a bonus. Your first
bonus appears at your third coin and the bonus
gets to be more at certainly levels of coins collected.
Be careful though in waiting to get to the higher bonuses.
If a player from the opposing team bounces you with a
lot of coins, you lose the entire bonus and have to start
from zero coins!

There are various bonus items that appear randomly
(which we call spawn) in an arena map. These can
be power boosts, shield boosts, and better foam guns
than the default foam gun you start with. The power
boost restores some of your power if you have been hit.
It looks like a red cross on a black background and is
shown below.

The shield boost is a spinning blue orb and gives you an
invulnerability shield for 10 seconds. You will notice that
when you first start a game, and for 5 seconds after
coming back from getting bounced, you will also have an
invulnerability shield around you. The shield is a green
shield that covers your avatar's body.

The last items are the more powerful foam guns.
Everyone starts with the rapid fire "Stinger" but
you can also pick up two other kinds: the Sweeper
(which shots foam darts in an arc and does more
damage, but also has a shorter range than the
Stinger) and the Sucker Punch (which is a long
range, high damage foam gun, it's main drawback
being it only has 3 shots before it disappears).
Your stinger has 25 shots. When it is empty, just
use the right click on your mouse to reload. Your
weapon indicator in the bottom right hand corner
of the screen shows which weapon you currently
have along with how many shots is has left.

To switch your Stinger out with another foam gun you
have acquired, hit the 2 button for the Sweeper and
the 3 button on your keyboard for the Sucker Punch.
You have less shots and less ammunition in the Sweeper
and Sucker Punch so will need to reload more often
and be on the look at for more ammunition for the guns.
Once you use all the ammunition up for a particular gun,
it disappears from your gun inventory.

When you do this, the foam gun currently equipped
switches to the top of indicator and also appears in
your avatar's arms. When you collect another foam
gun that you already have in your inventory, it adds
more clips of foam dart ammunition to your current
total.
You use your foam dart guns to shoot the opposing
team (shooting your own teammates has no effect)
and depending on the foam gun, each time you hit
it removes a certain percentage of their power level
(health). When they have no power left they have
been "bounced", and you were the one that "checked"
them. A message appears in the chat window on who
checked who and the bounced player gets knocked
down. After a few seconds he will respawn back at
his team's start point where he can once again join
in the fun. Any coins he may have collected are lost.
If he had 3 or more coins when he got bounced, one
appears at his bounced spot and anyone can grab it.

There are also jump pads of various sorts around the
Octagon Arena. They will either propel you upwards
or shoot you across the room. They look like this:

END OF GAME
The game will end either when the 5 minutes are up
or one team collects 50 coins and places them in the
drop off point. At the end of the game a screen will
appear showing everyone how they did. This information
includes how many coins you collected, how many times
you checked members of the opposing team, how many
times you got bounced and your +/- in checks and bounces.
Your numbers are all tracked and can be viewed on the

Once you are done looking over the results of the game,
press the Exit Arena to go back to the Lobby where you
can rejoin those in your game to play again, join another
game or just brag about how "awesome" you were in the last game.
SOME TIPS:
Corelli says: work in pairs for the highest effectiveness.
One player collects coins while the 2nd protects the
coin collector.
Getting the high bonuses for collecting a lot of coins
can be great, but be sure to balance that with the
risk of getting bounced with such a high number on you.
Sniping can be fun! Designating someone to protect
the drop off point can pay dividends in the long run,
even if they aren't collecting any coins.
Learn how each foam gun works. Each one has advantages
and disadvantages.
The more you run around, the more booster packs and guns
you will find to enhance your game play.
The key to Ka-ching is to have fun! It's great to challenge
someone to a Ka-ching match to resolve an in game issue or
just show off your skills. Our goal in designing Ka-ching is to
bring you something fun and exciting that you can do over and
over.
