How to change AV (avatar) Clothes
Creating Your Avatar You'll create your virtual world persona - known as an avatar -- immediately after your initial log-in. The easy to use generator allows you to select a skin tone, pick a hairstyle, alter your eye color (girls-only) and don a beard (guys-only!). You are able to buy and change clothes when you're playing the game.
Changing Your Avatar's Clothes The Avatar generator includes assorted clothes to get you started. To expand your avatar's wardrobe, you'll need to teleport to the Mall where you can use your Kaneva credits to purchase more clothes-pants, shirts, shoes, etc. You can purchase any clothing, but your avatar is programmed to wear only clothes that are gender-appropriate (that's right, no cross-dressing allowed). Good news: If you mistakenly purchase clothing your avatar can't wear, you can sell it back or trade it with friends or other people.
Click the clipboard (inventory) icon in the Heads Up Display bar (HuD), located at the bottom of your screen. Click the Clothing tab (open by default).
The top items listed are the clothes you have on. The only option with these items is Remove; however, your avatar cannot be naked or in underwear or lingerie in public places. (Note: The only place to wear underwear or lingerie are those places designated as Access Pass only.) To select a different clothing item, click on the item and click Wear.
Your avatar’s clothes will automatically be replaced with your new selection. (Note: To wear Access Pass-only items, you must be in an Access Pass area.) Close the Inventory window by clicking the red X in the top-right corner.
Your 3D Home
Every Kaneva member gets a free 3D home in the Virtual World of Kaneva. Like your Kaneva profile on the Web, your home represents you. You make it your new unique virtual home! Here are some tips to get you started:
Get stuff
It's so dark! When you first get to your home (or move to a larger one), the place is going to be dark and empty. Just like in the real world, set out some lamps!
Deck the Walls (and floors and ceilings…) Upload images and photos to your media library, then use them on walls and in picture frames. You can upload media from Kaneva's web site or in game.
That Lived-In Look: Placing Furniture Purchase or trade for furniture, games, and appliances, and then place them wherever you want in your place.
Moving On Up: A larger home Your home starts as a free studio apartment, but you might become so popular that your friends, furniture, and gifts fill your home. You can easily upgrade your place by purchasing larger residences. Visit the realtor in the Mall for more information or to purchase a deed to your new home.

On your 2D Webpage 'My Kaneva' click on the communities Tab. On the right you will see a button that says 'start a community'. Fill in the details on the page it takes you to, this will give you A free conference room 'in world'. Please note, you can not change the textures in the conference room or move the objects, however, you can buy building materials and cover the existing structure and texture it to your liking.

In Kaneva we have two types of virtual player made zones: homes and hangouts. Every new member automatically gets a free home which you can get to by clicking the house icon on your display bar or selecting the Your Home icon from the overhead map (found in the Go Places button on the same bar). To get a hangout you will first need to create a community. To do this, go to your My Kaneva/My Profile page and select the My Communities tab. This lists all the communities you are a member of and also lets you start new communities. To start a new community merely press the "Start a Community" button on this page. You can name the community, add a descriptions, decorate the page, upload media...everything you can do on your profile page. After you have created a community, you can then go to the 3D world where you will find that you have a free hangout ready for you that is attached to that community's name. You can get to it through the "Go Places" button then find it either by searching your name or the name of the community. The free starter hangout is the conference room. While it is all laid out for our members you will notice that you cannot texture the walls and that the TVs are non-functional. You will either need to add building blocks and media players that are functional or replace the conference room deed with another deed. You can buy new deeds at the Realtor in the mall, or through the Catalog system, and you also can earn a hangout deed through World Fame (you can earn a free green acres deed at level 12 in World Fame). The deeds are broken up by home and hangout; you can ONLY use a home deed in your home and a hangout deed only in hangouts you own. When you go to use a deed, go to the place where you want to use it in the 3D world and click the USE button in your inventory page. Please remember two things when doing this: first, all the items in the current location will be moved to your inventory. Second, this does NOT include any deed you currently have placed in the location. So if you have a green acres deed placed and use an island deed over it, the green acres deed will NOT be returned to your inventory. Support will not grant you a new green acres deed as this is working as designed. So be very careful when purchasing new deeds and very careful when placing them. Lastly, if you delete a community on the 2D page, all the items attached to the hangout will be returned to your inventory, but again, any deeds placed there will not go back to you.
Moderator
How to make someone a moderator of your community You can make another Kaneva member a moderator of your community, if the member is also a member of your community. Moderator’s can move objects around in the community hangout, change the media in the hangout and on the community web site, and make other members moderators. To make a member a moderator: 1.) Sign in and click My Kaneva. 2.) Click My Communities. 3.) Click on the community you’d like to change. 4.) Click Members. 5.) Find the member you’d like to be a moderator and click the Edit link under their picture. 6.) From the Role pull-down menu, choose Moderator. 7.) Click Save.
You can make another Kaneva member a moderator of your community, if the member is also a member of your community.
Moderator’s can move objects around in the community hangout, change the media in the hangout and on the community web site, and make other members moderators.
To make a member a moderator:
1.) Sign in and click My Kaneva.

GIFTS
If you would like to show someone in world that you care about them, you can send them a virtual gift. First you will need to find their name by going to the “Meet People” window. Type in their name, highlight it and then click the button entitled “Send Selected Person a 3D Gift.” A new window will open that lets know who you are sending the gift to along with a subject and message line so you can personalize the gift giving experience for them. Once you have decided what you are going to write and typed it in, then select between one of the gifts that you see in the window (there are multiple windows) then press the “Send Gift” button. You will get a message confirming what you are sending on your end, and on their end they will get a notice that they received something. They can then see the personalized message you sent along with the gift, which they can place in their home or hangout. When they accept your gift you get a message in your Personal Messages that they accepted your gift.
If another Kaneva member sends you a gift in-world, you’ll receive a notification in your chat box. To get the gift: Click on the envelope icon in the Heads Up Display bar (HuD), located at the bottom of your screen. Click the Gifts tab in the window that opens. You’ll see the gift and who sent it to you. Click Accept the Gift and the gift will be moved into your inventory. To use the gift, click the inventory icon in the Heads Up Display bar, and click the Gift tab. You can use the item just as any you would any item purchased in-world yourself.

How to get Help and Answers in Kaneva
If you have questions on how things work in Kaneva, or why something isn't working for you, you have a number of ways of getting answers.
In January of 2009, Kaneva launched the One Click Employment Agency, a new feature that allows members to earn Rewards every 6 hours based on how many friends they have had join Kaneva through the Invite a Friend program. To get to the One Click Employment Agency, log into the 3D World of Kaneva, open your travel map and look for the icon labeled "One Click Employment Agency" and left click. You will be immediately taken to the Job Agency. Once at the job agency just step up to a terminal and hit your TAB button. A window will appear showing you how many Rewards you can earn each time you visit the Agency based on the number of friends you have. Each level has a rank, similar to a title in a company, based on the number of invites you have had accepted. Every 6 hours you can come back to the One Click Employment Agency and "work" at your job again. There is a timer on the window that appears if it hasn't been 6 hours since your last visit, so you know how long you have till you can work again. Even if you have not invited anyone to join Kaneva, you can still earn 50 Rewards each time you visit! The following chart shows you how many potential Rewards you can earn on a weekly and monthly basis if you visit the One Click Employment Agency twice a day (remember you can visit it potentially up to 4 times every day). As you can see, even if you only visit twice a week, you can earn between 700 and 1260 Rewards a week and between 3000 and 5400 Rewards a month, depending on how many friends you have had join Kaneva through the Invite a Friend program. To invite a friend through Kaneva, merely select the Invite button at the job agency and it will take you through a very short invite process. You can track your invites through your My Friends page. Your Media in 3D
Feature your uploaded and connected media on televisions, radios, picture frames, and your home's floors and walls!
Your Photos on Walls (and floors and ceilings…) Upload images and photos to your media library, then use them on walls and in picture frames. You can upload media from Kaneva's web site or in game. (Instructions)
Purchase a bunch of picture frames from the furniture store in the Mall to display your photos or friends' profile images. Use your images and photos to paint your walls, floors, ceiling and even what you see outside with custom patterns or murals. Right click the wall or other surface, and then select Change Pattern. Select a photo from your media library, or upload one from the web site. Use your picture frames to hang pictures of your photos or even your friends' images! Right click the wall where you want to place the picture, and then choose Hang Picture. Select a picture frame from your inventory. Next, right click the picture frame and either choose 'Select Friends Picture' or 'Select Picture.'
I Want My Virtual TV Create a performance space with a television: place them in your apartment, and then show your videos to all your visitors!
If you don't have a television, go to the Mall and purchase one. Place a television by clicking the Inventory icon, and then selecting a television in your stuff and clicking Use. Your TV appears where you're standing, so you may need to move to see it Select the videos you want to play on your television by right-clicking the TV and selecting Change Playlist. You can then select one of your own playlists, or one of the Kaneva features. Place several televisions to show your presentation on multiple televisions at the same time.

Navigating
How the Menu Works Mouse over the navigation menu in the upper left of The Virtual World of Kaneva window to discover the different features, commands, and options. A short description appears at the bottom of the menu when you mouse-over the icons:
Messages: Send and receive private messages, give and receive gifts, and accept friend requests from other people. Emotes: Animate your persona with emotions, gestures, and dances. People: Interact with other people, go to their homes, and see who's online. Travel: Go to Kaneva's public places, personal homes, and Community hangouts, such as the Laughster Lounge and Anime Theater. Inventory: Change clothes, furnish your home, and manage your stuff. Go Home: Return to your 3D home. Preferences: You decide how you want certain things to behave in the world. Help: Get assistance, read the FAQ, find out more about the world, and sign off the game.
Keyboard Controls
Right clicking a person or object brings up the context menu, letting you perform certain actions on them. The Tab key lets you interact with the non-player characters, such as shopkeepers. Type /help in the Chat box for a list of the /commands (we call them 'slash commands'). For advanced users, these are often easier to use than the graphical interface.
Traveling To Friends or Other Players
To travel to a friend, click the Friends & People icon and then click Friends tab. Select a friend and click the 'Go There' button. To travel to a person, click the Friends & People icon, select the People tab, and then select the person's name and click the 'Go There' button. (Tip: Use Search with the person's username to locate a specific person.) You can prevent people from traveling to you at your home by selecting the Ignore this Person option. Like in the real world, you can't visit someone who isn't in the game. If you don't see them in the lists, then you may want to visit their home.
Traveling To Home
Select the Travel icon, and then click the People tab. Select the person's home from the list and click Go There. (Tip: Use the Search feature to find your friend's home.)
Traveling To Public Places (e.g., the Mall)
Select the Travel icon, and then click the Places tab. Select the place you want to travel to from the list and click Go There.
Traveling To Community Hangouts
Select the Travel icon, and then click the Hangouts tab. Select the hangout from the list and click Go There. (Tip: Use the Search feature to find the community hangout you want.)

When your inventory becomes full, you can’t trade with members, buy items, or pick up items already placed in your home or hangout. You’ll need to move some items to the Bank in order to add more, or use existing items. Visit the Bank in the Kaneva Mall and walk up to the bank teller. Press the TAB key, or right-click on the teller. Click on the item you’d like to move, enter the quantity, and click To Bank. The Bank can hold up to 250 different stacks of items. To move an item back to your inventory, highlight the item in the Your Bank tab, enter the quantity you wish to move, then click To Inventory.

You’ll find most of the stores in the Kaneva Mall (click Go Places > Public Places > Kaneva Mall), although there’s a plant store in the Plaza, and dance gear stores in the Public Dance Clubs.
To purchase an item: 1. Walk up to the shopkeeper in the store (usually behind the counter). When you get close you’ll see a message that says “Press TAB key to interact.” 2. Press the TAB key, right-click on the shopkeeper, OR type /buy. Two windows will appear: Your Inventory, and Store Inventory. 3. In the Store Inventory window, scroll through the items to see what’s available. 4. When you find something you like, click on the item (it will turn green). 5. In the Quantity to Buy field, type the number of items you’d like. The default setting is 1, but always check the quantity before purchasing the item. 6. Click either Buy with Credits or Buy with Rewards. (Some items can only be purchased with Credits.) Note: Items purchased with Rewards cannot be sold back to the store or traded to other members. Only items purchased with Credits can be sold back (at a discounted rate) to the store or traded to other Kaneva members. 7.
