setting you free

After a long and sleepless night,
slowly and with a trembling hand
the door of the gilded cage I open...
Wiping a tear and with a heavy heart I said
there my darling I set you free...

He came close,
  got on my hand
he spread the wings
around the room he flew once or twice...
and then he was gone...

I sat in silence, i closed my eyes
I dream of wings
to follow him to his realm...

I wipe my tears
my heart in pieces.

Crying and smiling
Today is the 1 year anniversary of  a lovely person losing her battle with cancer.
for 8 long years she fought with all her might,
always believing that every treatment will be the one that will get her well...
Her last day she said to me...if I could just be able to breathe a little easy and get up
I know I can beat it...a couple of hours later she was gone...
Yes I cry because I missed her soo much,
and it hurts so deep to know that she is not here with us to enjoy the new babies that have arrive into the family,
oh, she loved babies sooo much and they loved her..
And at the same time I have to smile and laugh thinking she is ok...she is no longer suffering
and probably she is watching us from above.
I will never forget you, your sweetness, your talents, your smiles and your courage.
Love you forever sis.

A Margarita DeBayle(Ruben Dario)
This is a poem I grew up with..since I can remember my parents will say it to me and I sincerely though that it was writen for me
since my first name is Margarita, lol ...

Margarita está linda la mar,
y el viento,
lleva esencia sutil de azahar;
yo siento
en el alma una alondra cantar;
tu acento:
Margarita, te voy a contar
un cuento:

Este era un rey que tenía
un palacio de diamantes,
una tienda hecha del día
y un rebaño de elefantes,
un kiosko de malaquita,
un gran manto de tisú,
y una gentil princesita,
tan bonita,
Margarita,
tan bonita, como tú.

Una tarde, la princesa
vio una estrella aparecer;
la princesa era traviesa
y la quiso ir a coger.

La quería para hacerla
decorar un prendedor,
con un verso y una perla
y una pluma y una flor.

Las princesas primorosas
se parecen mucho a ti:
cortan lirios, cortan rosas,
cortan astros. Son así.

Pues se fue la niña bella,
bajo el cielo y sobre el mar,
a cortar la blanca estrella
que la hacía suspirar.

Y siguió camino arriba,
por la luna y más allá;
más lo malo es que ella iba
sin permiso de papá.

Cuando estuvo ya de vuelta
de los parques del Señor,
se miraba toda envuelta
en un dulce resplandor.

Y el rey dijo: «¿Qué te has hecho?
te he buscado y no te hallé;
y ¿qué tienes en el pecho
que encendido se te ve?».

La princesa no mentía.
Y así, dijo la verdad:
«Fui a cortar la estrella mía
a la azul inmensidad».

Y el rey clama: «¿No te he dicho
que el azul no hay que tocar?.
¡Qué locura!, ¡Qué capricho!...
El Señor se va a enojar».

Y ella dice: «No hubo intento;
yo me fui no sé por qué.
Por las olas y el viento
fui a la estrella y la corté».

Y el papá dice enojado:
«Un castigo has de tener:
vuelve al cielo y lo robado
vas ahora a devolver».

La princesa se entristece
por su dulce flor de luz,
cuando entonces aparece
sonriendo el Buen Jesús.

Y así dice: «En mis campiñas
esa rosa le ofrecí;
son mis flores de las niñas
que al soñar piensan en mí».

Viste el rey ropas brillantes,
y luego hace desfilar
cuatrocientos elefantes
a la orilla de la mar.

La princesa está bella,
pues ya tiene el prendedor
en que lucen, con la estrella,
verso, perla, pluma y flor.

* * *

Margarita, está linda la mar,
y el viento
lleva esencia sutil de azahar:
tu aliento.

Ya que lejos de mí vas a estar,
guarda, niña, un gentil pensamiento
al que un día te quiso contar
un cuento.

La cabeza del rawí (Rubén Darío)
I

¿Cuentos quieres, niña bella?
Tengo muchos que contar:
de una sirena de mar,
de un ruiseñor y una estrella,
de una cándida doncella
que robó un encantador,
de un gallardo trovador
y de una odalisca mora,
con sus perlas de Bassora
y sus chales de Lahor.

II

Cuentos dulces, cuentos bravos,
de damas y caballeros,
de cantores y guerreros,
de señores y de esclavos;
de bosques escandinavos
y alcázares de cristal;
cuentos de dicha inmortal,
divinos cuentos de amores
que reviste de colores
la fantasía oriental.

III

Dime tú: ¿de cuáles quieres?
Dicen gentes muy formales
que los cuentos orientales
les gustan a las mujeres;
así, pues, si eso prefieres
verás colmado tu afán,
pues sé un cuento musulmán
que sobre un amante versa,
y me lo ha contado un persa
que ha venido de Hispahán.

IV

Enfermo del corazón
un gran monarca de Oriente,
congregó inmediatamente
los sabios de su nación;
cada cual dio su opinión,
y sin hallar la verdad
en medio de su ansiedad,
acordaron en consejo
llamar con presura a un viejo
astrólogo de Bagdad.

V

Emprendió viaje el anciano;
llegó, miró las estrellas;
supo conocer en ellas
las cuitas del soberano;
y adivinando el arcano
como viejo sabidor,
entre el inmenso estupor
de la cortesana grey,
le dijo al monarca: ?!Oh Rey!
Te estás muriendo de amor.

VI

Luego, el altivo monarca,
con órdenes imperiosas
llama a todas las hermosas
mujeres de la comarca
que su poderío abarca;
y ante el viejo de Bagdad,
escoge su voluntad
de tanta hermosura en medio,
la que deba ser remedio
que cure su enfermedad.

VII

Allí ojos negros y vivos;
bocas de morir al verlas,
con unos hilos de perlas
en rojo coral cautivos;
allí rostros expresivos;
allí como una áurea lluvia,
una cabellera rubia;
allí el ardor y la gracia,
y las siervas de Circasia
con las esclavas de Nubia.

VIII

Unas bellas, adornadas
con diademas en las frentes,
con riquísimos pendientes
y valiosas arracadas;
otras con telas preciadas
cubriendo su morbidez;
y otras, de marmórea tez,
bajas las frentes y mudas,
completamente desnudas
en toda su esplendidez.

IX

En tan preciada revista,
ve el Rey una linda persa
de ojos bellos y piel tersa,
que al verle baja la vista;
el alma del Rey conquista
con su semblante la hermosa,
y agitada y ruborosa
tiembla llena de temor
cuando el altivo Señor
le dice: ?Serás mi esposa.

X

Así fue. La joven bella
de tez blanca y negros ojos,
colmó los reales antojos
y el Rey se casó con ella.
¿Feliz, dirás, tal estrella,
Emelina? No fue así:
no es feliz la Reina allí
la linda persa agraciada,
porque ella está enamorada
de Balzarad el rawí.

XI

Balzarad tiene en verdad
una guzla en la garganta,
guzla dúlcida que encanta
cuando canta Balzarad.
Vióle un día la beldad
y oyó cantar al rawí;
de sus labios de rubí
brotó un suspiro temblante...
Y Balzarad fue el amante
de la celestial hurí.

XII

Por eso es que triste se halla
siendo del monarca esposa,
y el tiempo pasa quejosa
en una interior batalla.
Del Rey la cólera estalla,
y así le dice una vez:
?Mujer llena de doblez:
di si amas a otro, falaz.?
Y entonces de ella en la faz
surgió vaga palidez.

XIII

?Sí ?le dijo?, es la verdad;
de mi destino es la ley:
yo no puedo amarte, ¡Oh Rey!
porque adoro a Balzarad.?
El Rey, en la intensidad,
de su ira, entonces, calló;
mudo, la espalda volvió;
mas se vía en su mirada
del odio la llamarada,
la venganza en que pensó.

XIV

Al otro día la hermosa
de parte de él recibió
una caja que la envió
de filigrana preciosa;
abrióla presto curiosa
y lanzó, fuera de sí,
un grito; que estaba allí
lívida y ensangrentada
entre la caja, guardada,
la cabeza del rawí.

XV

En medio de su locura ,
avariciosa de muerte
ponzoñoso filtro apura.
Fue el Rey donde la hermosura,
y estaba allí la beldad
tirada medio desnuda y ya muerta,
besando la horrible y yerta
cabeza de Balzarad.

XVI

El Rey se puso a pensar
en lo que la pasión es,
y poco tiempo después
el Rey se volvió a enfermar.

The Impossible Dream
This is one of my all time favorite poem/song.

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

Here is my personal outlook on life.
May it bring a bit of wisdom and comfort to all
With all the trials I have gone through in my life I have learned a few things.

First comes from an old saying:

There but by the grace of god go I

I have come to fall back on that alot when things are rough. I always look around at others
 and remember that I have it easy compared to others.
That helps me pick my self up and look to the future.

Second is:

Friends & Family are what makes life worth living.

They can help you through troubling times, celebrate the joys in life with you and help you enjoy the simple things in life. Friends can be found just around the corner or half way around the world. They like family are there unconditional for you day or night.

Third is:
 that as part of the human race it is our job in life to share the joys and sorrows of others.

We must always try and lend a helping hand to others, but as we do we must also temper that help with wisdom. Helping is a wonderful thing, but we must not allow ourselves to fall into the trap of doing to much where the ones we are tring to help do not learn and grow as a person.

The last is:
 that I try and pass on a smile, a kind word and at least one act of kindness everyday.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to all my friends here in Kaneva.

Living in a Phoenix Wonderland
I guess it's finally winter! So break out the sweatshirts people, because it's only 49 degrees outside! BRRR!

And now, because it's officially the holiday season, a song for you, Phoenix style -

Sung to the tune of Winter Wonderland:

Palm trees wave, are you listenin'
In the pool, water's glistenin'
A warm sunny day, we like it that way
Livin' in a Phoenix wonderland

Gone away is the blizzard
Here to stay is the lizard
A warm sunny day, we like it that way
Livin' in a Phoenix wonderland

In the desert we can have a picnic
Cactus, sand, rattlesnakes and sun
Christmas dinner is an old tradition
We'll have pinto beans and tacos by the ton

Later on, we'll perspire
Temperatures rise even higher
A warm sunny day, we like it that way
Living in a Phoenix wonderland

Quotable Quotes

  Many people will walk in and out of your life.
But only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.

To handle yourself, use your head; To handle others, use your heart

Anger is only one letter short of danger.

If someone betrays you once, it is his fault;
If he betrays you twice, it is your fault.

Great minds discuss ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people
He, who loses money, loses much;
He, who loses a friend, loses much more;
He, who loses faith, loses all.

Learn from the mistakes of others.
You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

The gift
If one day when you wake up you were to find by your bed, a package, with a beautiful wrapping,
you probably would open it,even before you wash your face, intrigue for what could be inside...
Maybe you would find something that you wouldn't like much, you still would save it,
thinking of what to do with that gift that apparently was of no use to you.
and If the next day you receive another box, one more time you would open it fast
with the hope of finding this time something that you could use.
And this is what it happens to all of us each day, even though we don't realize it...
Everyday when we wake up, is there, in front of us,
a brand new day, given to us. A whole new day to used it in the best way possible.
Sometimes it comes full of problems, sadness,disappointments or tears...
But other times comes full of surprises, happiness,challenges, victories and conquests...
The most important thing is that Life wraps for us, while we sleep, a gift, a brand new day!
 a new possibility, and it would be up to us the option of using or disregard the contents.
It could have ribbons of all colors or we would have to add the colors.
Not always the gift would be what we want, but is very probably that it is what we need to learn in this walk of life.
Lets open the gift of a brand new day with gratitude and acknowledgement and what we do with it is all up to us.
