What is Kaneva?

Kaneva is the first virtual entertainment world that unifies the 2D web with a 3D experience. Kaneva is the first to integrate social networking, shared media, and collaborative online communities into a modern-day, immersive 3D Virtual World.

Latin for canvas, Kaneva's mission is to enable its members to have fun, express their interests and passions, and establish meaningful, real connections with others.

How do I add content..blogs, comments, friends list to my profile?

Kaneva provides drag-and-drop content "widgets" which enable you to easily add multiple features to your Profile and quickly customize the layout. Here's how it works:

Login and click on My ProfileClick Design.At left, you will see the Content Widgets you can Add to your Profile -- including Blogs, your Friends List, and a wide variety of Photo, Music and Video display features.

Click on the Edit button (next to your Member Name), then click on the Edit link at the top of each widget box to edit and display content.

How do I change the design..color, text, background..of my profile?

First ... Login and click on My Profile Click Design. Then, you can select a different pre-designed Theme for your Profile by clicking a Theme at left. Or, you can customize your Profile design by ...

Using a Custom CSS style sheet to completely customize the look and feel of your Profile.

You can even embed third-party "skins" by using the Custom CSS feature

My Notes: Customizing your profile is easier than you may think, it just takes practice and patience :)
To use your own background image you'll need to upload it to photobucket (or a similar site). If you
don't have an image you like, check out photobucket, they have billions (really). OK, so you find the one you like.
Next copy the URL CODE. Go to your profile, click on design. Where you see background URL, paste
your imageURL there. To make the image tile(cover your whole background) choose "repeat full"
from the drop down menu.

Now click on "more options" Here you can choose type and color of font. Click on the little circles and
you will see a "color picker" box open, click on the color you like. Repeat for all fonts. Save changes and
see if you like the results. I usually go back and forth a few times until I get what I like :).

When you get to the bottom of this you will see "Opacity". This determines the opacity of your foreground
widgets. You can play around with this as well. I have mine set at slight, just enough to let some glitter
from the background come through. You can set from none to extreme. Very transparent (extreme) pages
are really great, but can be hard to read. Tip: If you do choose extreme, or you visit an extremely transparent
page that is hard to read, left click and drag your mouse over the text, it will highlight and make it easier to read.

You can also use 3rd party backgrounds like you would for myspace, just copy the URL code as mentioned above.

How do I change the layout of my profile?

Login and click on My ProfileClick Design.

Add more content widgets to your Profile

Change the position of content widgets by dragging and dropping them into different portions of the page

Use the Center slide bar to adjust the width of your Profile's two column layout

Add additional pages to your Profile by clicking the Add a Page button

WHAT ARE RAVES?

OK, when I first started welcoming new people I stated raves are like a
friendly gesture, and we all like to get them, which is true. I also stated
raves are how we earn points in the virtual world to buy things for our homes.
This last part I read on a "newbie" page of a long time member. I have also
heard it at the mall. (If you go there, you will find people who will A. Politely
rave you, tell you and wait to be raved back, B. People dancing for raves and
C. People calling out to be raved.) This morning I was informed by another
Kaneva member that raves are nothing and we do not get points for them.

OK, so I am really confused...and sorry if I confused anyone else in the process.
I will continue to rave and comment...because who wouldn't want to be raved as a
sign of friendship?

How do I add media (pictures, videos, music and games) to my profile?

Login and click the My Kaneva tab.

Click My Media Uploads.

Click Upload.You can add up to five files at once -- just don't upload anything bigger than 100MB.

At left, you'll see the media Widgets you can Add to your Profile -- including Photo, Music, Video and Game display features. Once you Add a selected media widget to your Profile, you can drag-and-drop it into the Header, the Left or Right frame, or the Footer portion of your Profile.

Click on the Edit button (next to your Member Name), then click on the Edit link at the top of each widget box to add and display the media content stored in your Media Library.

The video and music you upload to your media library is automatically accessible in the Virtual World via 3D TVs and boom boxes.

My Notes: What is a widget? When you are in the layout screen, scroll down and on the left you will see them. HTML, music,
photos, videos, etc. Click on the ones you want, they will pop up at the top of the pages, just drag and drop where you like.

Playlists: This is a very important item. Click on My Kaneva, then My Media, all the way down on the left you will see "create playlist"
If you do not create playlists then your multiple photos, slide show, music and video catalogs will show all of your media in one widget.
Example: I want to show multiple photos of my kitties bungee jumping (snicker). So I upload the pics. Then I hit "create playlist"
and name it "Bungee Cats" and click save. Then I go to the top of the page and find the pics I just uploaded. I put checks in the
little boxes to the left of each pic I want in this playlist. At the top of the page, you'll see "add to playlist" with an arrow, click on the arrow
and you will see all your playlists. (Right now we have 2, one says "all" and one says "bungee cats". ) Click on bungee cats, then click
on the plus sign next to "add to playlist".

Next pick a widget, for this purpose we'll pick "multiple pictures" and add it to the page. Next click save changes and you will be
back to your profile. OK, last step! You will see your widget marked "multiple photos". Click on the edit button top right corner.
When that opens up you will see an arrow, click on that and you will see your playlists. Click on "bungee cats", then save changes.
Now you will see only those pics from that playlist!

You can do playlists for music and videos the same way. This is very useful in the 3D world as you can change the music and videos
you want playing in your home.Just right click on your TV, boombox or whatever, click on change playlist and choose the one you want.
You can play music without videos on your TV as well. I hope this helps! Feel free to message me if you need help!

How do I embed You-tube, Flash animations and other third party add-ons?

Copy the Embed code for the video or third-party add-on.

Login and click on My ProfileClick on LayoutAdd the HTML Content widget to your pageSave your Changes

Click to Edit the HTML Content widgetGo to the Body portion of the HTML Content widget and click to use the HTML edit function.

Paste the Embed code you copied for the video or add-onSave Changes

Use the same steps to display embeddable Flash animations, RSS feeds, graphic animations and more on your Kaneva profile.

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY?

A Kaneva Community is the ultimate way to share your special interest or passion with other Kaneva members – and the world. Think of it as an online fan club, where you can post videos or photos, write a Blog and host a forum about the subject that interests you must – movies, politics, sports, television shows –and attract like-minded Kaneva members to join and contribute. What’s more, every Community on Kaneva gets a Virtual World hang-out where members can share media and chat in 3D.

HOW DO I START A COMMUNITY?

Login and click the My Kaneva tab.

Click My Communities.

Click the Start a Community button.

You’ll need to provide a name and description for your Community, and upload an
image or graphic icon to promote your Community. After that, it’s up to you to make your
Community content-rich and compelling so it wins notice, Raves and contributing members.
