Kaneva CONTACT US!

I noticed today there is a new splash page to the opening of the Game of Kaneva... and I want to be sure to call your attention to it.

this I feel is a real improvement over what has been offered in the past, because it gives us much more important information for us to use. Although, the first two parts still have rather useless information the third is one which I feel is very important! Important enough that I am going to show it to you in a much larger and readable picture.

I started to say that all of us have known for some time that if we have a problem... The forums have been about as useful as teets on a boar hog. Really I supposedly have Richard Weild's Email and I can not even get answers to my questions from the Community Relations Director at Kaneva, so I am not sure thhis will even return results, but I would like to encourage each and everyone of you to use this form to write in and tell the developers just what you would like to see to make the game more functional and valuable to you.

I encourage you to forget about worrying about finding hints in the troubleshooting guide, and use this opportunity to tell them what you want to make the World of Kaneva a more popular place to enjoy a virtual life. Lets face it! Unless you are a grade schooler or an older non computer person the World of Kaneva is going to be a failure in allowing people to enjoy customizing their areas.

Even something as simple as adding textures to objects that we are "allowed" to have to use to build with... is crazy... you can't decided how you want the texture to repeat... cant move the alignment of the texture and that forces what you are trying to accomplish to look overly elementary.

The building Blocks which have to be bought from the one and only store that sales them are far from being satisfactory in allowing one to build anything other than boxy elementary shapes... you can't link these materials together so they form a single piece, not to mention you can't move them around in a 3D space you are only allowed to move them through 2D space.

Please all of you would be content creators use that contact us button and let them know what you are interested in! Tell them you want to sit down, lay down, kiss, make love, fight, dance as a couple, lock people out of your house, ban people from your property, separate out the immature acting idiots from people you would really like to spend time with. Let them know these type of thing are much more important than the multiplayer games they are wanting to get made first. Allow us to interact as people from around the world first, and then worry about providing gaming entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

Kaneva has a really good Idea, but somehow has lost sight of what is most important... getting people to simply enjoy being with new people that they can make friends with and enjoy being around in social settings... then we can go to the paintball course, or golf course or bowling alley, or play a softball game with..... get the idea?

Then again this is just one mans opinion..... maybe I am wrong.... what do you think.

Some really helpful things for Kaneva building

I would like to cover today some of the features I would like to see added Kaneva. First I would like to be able to upload tga's where I could play with some alpha channels. For those of you who don't know the alpha channels would allow you to have transparent areas in your textures. Of course you would need a very good graphics program to manipulate those pictures.

Next I would like to see a way to be able to link the different building blocks we use so they will stay together and even one texture cover the whole linked group. I would also like to be able to determine how the texture faces would be set,how often they repeat, be able to shift alignment.

I would like to be able to rotate an object through the three axis of 3 dimensional space using the x, y, and z axis.

Building supplies should be more available in a wider array of sizes. Actually I would like to be able to create my own building supplies and upload them into the game. I think that might be already accomplishable through the elite developers, but I am only now trying to learn to work with the mesh system..... and if anyone would care to tutor an individual to help him get a quicker start Please feel free to contact me.

I believe it is still very important to be able to ban people from out property... there are some that are a real pain in the a**. And I normally can get along with most anyone.

Anyway just a few of my thoughts for today.

If I write it will anyone read it?

I haven't written in a while. Didn't know if anyone would read what my thoughts here on Kaneva are, or even cared. Now I know at least one person is curious and asked about my writing.

I actually have several things on my mind that I want to .... emmmm... err... for lack of a better vocabulary ... bitch about. I realize that Kaneva is still in Beta and there should be a lot of lead way given the teams that are working so hard to bring it out, but there are some things that really get to me. The one I am going to discuss today is .... We need a way to BAN people from our places. Really some people are just a pain to have to put up with. I am sure that several people will tell you that I am one of them! I speak my mind pretty freely... especially on my own place.

The other day several adults were standing around having an pleasant adult conversation, and by adult I mean polite, nice, informative communication... nothing dirty, nasty, or in any way inappropriate; when out of the blue a message came across the chat.. "Ok, everybody lets get naked and party!" We turn and look to see an avatar stripped down as far as he can get - dancing the stupid looking overly simple animations available in Kaneva - so we tried to ignore him. Would he take the hint and go on about his own business? No he continued making an ass out of himself. I checked his web profile and found him to be a 14 year old. I tried to talk to him, and only got threatened and called names that should never come from a 14 year olds mouth. We tried to block him, which is at the very least supposed to cut off having to read what he has to say... that didn't work! You can block them but it has no affect.

The event with the 14 year old brought about my thought of how I know Kaneva wants Kaneva to be family friendly, but we all know that some of us want restricted area where we can be the primitive beings we are; that need to go into effect NOW! I am not even going to go into the kids that aren't listed as less than 18, and yes I have found a couple that admit it. There are some protective changes to benifit the adults that needed to come into the World of Kaneva before it went open Beta.

I joined Raveaholics

Ok I have blogged earlier about how not to get caught up in the rave craze! Today I joined Raveaholics which is a community started by my very good friend ReneeM. If nothing else it give a bunch of us a chance to come together for a brief moment while waiting on a new bunch of people to come online. Of course that brief moment will never last very long, because we HAVE to get back to raving!

Again I would like to warn you that are new to Kaneva to try to avoid this little pitfall before you have your profile in order. Take the time to build your profile and personalize it to match your personality. Because once you get caught up in the rave craze, it will be a hard habit to break!

Proceed into the Raving Craze with caution! You may find yourself ADDICTED!

How many people did you rave today?

Did you spend very much time actually looking at or participating in something.

... Anything here on Kaneva today other than simply raving?

I am still trying to lay out very simple tutorials for the new people. I guess someone like what I have done or do communities just get rotated up on as Newest, Raved Communities This Week? Did I do something good or was it by accident that it showed up the day after I changed it?

It is not that I am not doing anything

I have decided I would really go to town working on improving one of my communities today. The one I have been working so hard on is called Kaneva Basics, and I am trying to make it very helpful to those people that come into Kaneva with little or maybe even no knowledge of how to set up a website of any kind. I mean from basicly how to upload their profile picture onward. I really haven't gotten very far, but I am working pretty hard in attempt to help even the least knowledgeable.

I have decided to call my default page of the community Elementary, the next pages Jr. High, High School, University, Grad School, and then a invitation page called Phd.s.... then a forum page. Do you think some people might be put off by calling the pages those names?

Although not quite finished yet, the Elementary page is getting close. All the tutorials are in place... just need to think a bit more on the design layout. I started out with Changing your profile picture then moved on to uploading media to displaying multiple photos and grouping them into play lists. In Jr. High I am picking up on how to use the play lists and going from there. I am hoping this community will become a very useful community.

A Dating Site?

I was looking at the search feature last night and found something you might be interested in. The advanced section of the people search has some unexpected features in it. It is like a dating sites search engine. You can choose which sex you are searching for male or female, what country that person is from, distance from your zip code, smoking or not, drinking or not, ethnicity, religion, educational level, what type of relationship they ae in now, their sexual orientation, Age range, height, weight, updated within length, and the least number of raves.

Hey, when you are searching by sexual orientation you have the choice of straight, gay/lesbian, Bi-sexual, Freak, and not sure. When you are searching for what their present relationship is your choices are single, in a relationship, married, divorced, swinger, or Freaky. When searching for educational level there ae the choices dropout, high school, some college, in college, bachelors degree, masters degree, and doctorate.

These are a lot of features one only expects to see on a dating site, and I guess that is how well planned Kaneva is for its residents. Do you think Kaneva will ever take it place along side the famous Match.com, Friend Finder, or even Reds personals?

Good Morning Kaneva!

I slept late this morning, but I guess that is because I was up so late last night visiting peoples profiles and passing out raves like they are candy. I have enjoyed getting to many peoples sites and spending time looking them over, buy I wonder how many of you that come by my site actually take the time to read anything? Well you know what I mean, don't you? I know that at least two people that came by yesterday took the time to read my little blog here because they left comments,thanks mrsfrance and mecairo, which made me fell like i might not be wasting my time writing about my adventures on Kaneva.

But how many of you expect that by simply running to a profile clicking the thumb, quickly finding the comments and leaving an "I raved you rave me back" is actually showing you are going to be active on Kaneva? Are these quick fire people what Kaneva actually want in their 3D world? Think about that for a minute will you?

I have now been on the Kaneva 2D side for ... well this is the beginning of my third day, and as of this morning before doing anything active on the site I was ranked at 191 in activity. Yesterday I uploaded a small amount of my music, a video, visited many sites, reworked my profile, messed it up, straightened it back out. Made a friend who kept me in stitches, with her private message comments, making this old man feel like he acquired a new 18 year old daughter with a wicked sense of humor. Really, White_Trash furnished me with such a smile at two periods of time yesterday that made the frustration I was feeling simply melt away.. I suggest anyone will most probably gain considerably by becoming friendly with her.... .

Now back to what appears to me as a race to be raved.... and is that what it will take to receive an invitation to come inside the 3D world. Last night, as much as I tried not to fall into that type of action, I found myself slipping into the same type action. I ended up the night mad at myself. I raved some profiles I thought were horrible... their colors or masks were of such that the writing was hard to read... some almost impossible to read, and there are way to many that play music on load.. and so load that my speakers were in peril of cracking... what is wrong with allowing people to find your music and looking over the selection and having to start the music themselves, or at least having the on load music play at a softer rate?

Personally, I think that taking your time to build your 2D site with content you will be able to use in the 3D world should be our number 1 objective, so when we are able to go into the "world" we have a nice set of tools to use inside. Wouldn't you think that would be of more benefit to you than having 300 people you don't know on your friends list, raving sites you think suck, and simply killing your time running all around and not even paying attention to what others have lined up to enter the 3D world?

But Hey, I could be all wrong.... What do you think?

It was my understanding that the makers of Kaneva were the ones responsible for issuing the invitations to step up and enter the 3D world, not the people that are already inside the 3D world that invited us into the 3D world. If any of you know the truth about what it takes to get an invitation... please leave a comment here on this blog.

Finding Kaneva people friendly and generous

I got a very late start here on Kaneva on Thru. March 1, but before things slowed down for me I had had about 18 of the friendliest people around come by and leave comments and ask for raves. I certainly am not one of the more active people here a Kaneva as yet, but tomorrow and the weekend may give me time to get to know how everything takes place here on Kaneva.

I am a blogger who blogs on http://www.vtoreality.com about Second Life, Kaneva, and other virtual worlds and games. I am an old man from way down in the swamps of Louisiana. I have mostly been blogging about Second Life, but am now looking forward to writing entries about Kaneva also.
