Human Traffic in Tijuana

Human trafficking is the criminal commercial trade in human beings, who are subjected to involuntary acts such as begging, sexual exploitation (prostitution and forced marriage), or unfree labor (involuntary servitude or working in sweatshops). Trafficking involves using physical force, fraud, deception, or other forms or coercion or intimidation to obtain, recruit, harbor, and transport people. To many, the contemporary phenomenon of trafficking in human beings is equivalent to slavery. This short video is footage shot by Timothy Jaeger of Tijuana's famous 'Zona Norte' area, and remixed under Creative Commons Sampling Plus 1.0 License.

Part 2 - "iaght"

IAGHT is a remix of my 2005 digital film PROJEK IAGHT, which was featured at the New York Minute Film Festival and at the 2005 San Francisco Bayennial. The film is composed of over 6,300 still images drawn from image searches on words such as graffiti, body art, tatoo, DJ, skateboard, hiphop, breakdance, pimp, party, freaky, kromp, dope, cool, and iaght. So, it's a "cameraless" digital film using search-engines or image databases as the source material. There's an obvious homage to Stan Brakhage here, and the soundtrack is a series of Microsongs(tm) that either I composed or that happened to be on my Powerbook, each compressed to a length of about 5 seconds each. Lawrence Lessig, columnist for WIRED Magazine and one of the leading voices on intellectual property in the digital age called PROJEK IAGHT, "Derivative but totally thought-provoking - just as every great thought gets provoked". Part 1 - "hover"

HOVER is an abstract digital art film that lasts about 6 minutes. It's intended as a backdrop for more interesting activity in the foreground, such as spoken word, music, or an unfolding personal drama. While some viewers have commented about the content of the piece (such as a psychedelic olive, zombies in bed, ominous figures peering down at you from a ledge, and reflections in a shiny hubcap), others have remarked on its form: a single, uninterrupted shot that reveals all these things. p.s. I'm not yet happy with how this is currently streaming. I suggest you let the entire film through while you're doing something else, then come back to it and start it over from the beginning.
