About the K.D.U.

The Kaneva Designers' Union is the first trade union in the entire World of Kaneva. It has been established to meet the growing needs of the designing community by being their voice when they have none. The aims of the KDU are to:

decrease the so-called "commission" taken by Kaneva to a reasonable percentage;

encourage the release of more and frequent UGC templates for designers;

educate and assist designers that may be struggling in their craft;

demand fairer voting methods and practices when it comes to design competitions;

organize all professional designers into one large organization that can be their voice.

The KDU is funded by the donations and dues of its members. All funds are monitored closely to ensure a fair and reasonable use. The leadership of the KDU lies in the Executive Committee which is comprised of the founding members. Every six months, a Chairman/Chairwoman is elected to the seat to call for and preside over meetings as well as to be the voice of solidarity for the Executive Committee's final decisions.

Elections & Wolframite

ELECTIONS
The time has come for the Executive Board members to choose the Director of the Executive Board. The following is your list of candidates in order of nomination:

WOLFRAMITE
Due to issues with the current boycott, my last act as Acting Director of the KDU is to initialize what I call the Wolframite Plan. The Wolframite Plan uses the basic principle of preclusive purchasing (what the French did to the Nazis during World War II). You are encouraged to no longer purchase any bundles or credits from Kaneva. You may continue to earn money off purchases of your designs and continue to make new ones. The money other players invest in the game is already invested and them giving some of that money to you only helps us. By boycotting our own designs, we would only be hurting ourselves in the longrun economically.

If you need supplies for building, you may go to player shops. Some also sells credits via PayPal should you need to buy them. If you need an item in a recent bundle, talk to the shop owners and they will obtain it for you through other players.

This is the only way to really make any impact in Kaneva and to have them hear our voice. Some of us here spend around $500 a week on bundles and credits. They will begin to hurt enough to hear our cries for change in customer service. This plan will work so please, stick by it and don't buy anything officially from Kaneva!

Boycott

An overwhelming support from the public with the recent banning of foxyde has led the KDU to establish a boycott. All designers are encouraged to make their designs private or raise their prices beyond purchase. You are also encouraged not to purchase anymore bundles. We seek an end by our means and our end being the complete overhaul of the customer support structure in Kaneva. Starting tomorrow, I will begin placing phone calls to Chris Klaus and Greg Frame in regards to the situation.

The Board of Founders

The following people have been selected for the Kaneva Designers' Union's Executive Board. The KDU's Executive Board is made up of 12 of the founding members and trustees that have helped to establish the KDU through their time, money and recruitment efforts. Their duty is to create and vote on union policy and the use of available funds. They also have a responsibility to keep the union active and fighting for the rights of designers in Kaneva.

The Executive Board and all members of the KDU are requested to meet this Friday (12/19/08) at 8:00 PM (EST) at the Kaneva Designers' Union Hall. There will be a motion carried for the nomination and election of a Chairman of the Board as well as a discussion of initial policy with all members. Your attendance is requested.
