Reflections on CBF Meeting at Birds and Bees
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It is my joy to reflect upon the fellowship we shared at the Birds and Bees outdoor retreat!
This was the perfect way to celebrate Earth Day, surrounded by the beauty of God's creation! The retreat center, built in the shape of a cross, featured walls and floors of brick and stone. Interspersed on the walls were sacred stained glass artworks and large octagonal windows. These made it easy to take in the spectacular view of the outdoors that surrounded us!
Stairs led up to the observation deck, where a gazebo on a stone pedestal served as a dramatic lookout point! A cardinal and a cockatoo on the handrail seemed to agree that this was the best view of the mountaintops as well as down to the valley below! A cupid's fountain framed with flowers, trees and marble statues adorned the area near the foot of the lookout. Upstairs, a library and two bedrooms had fireplaces lit to warm its weary residents after vigorous daytime hikes in the cold. This retreat is really is the perfect getaway place to pray, write a song or a book, or for newlyweds to enjoy their honeymoon.
Near the front entrance, we found numerous stone steps built onto the mountainside. When we arrived at the summit, we were delighted to behold a river cascading down as a waterfall! Carefully, we held the handrail as we descended to ground level again. Here, a lush garden was in full bloom. A stone bridge allowed us to cross a little brook and walk past the side of the retreat center. Here we found a delightful surprise, a 20 foot tall peacock, constructed out of stained glass and copper! He seemed to have his eye on the freshly roasted boar on a spit. Unfortunately for him, an eagle then landed to claim his prize, a steak on a stake! The garden gnome on the tiki bar counter folded his arms and looked at both birds disapprovingly.
We walked near to admire various birds on birdbaths in the garden, then noticed another set of steps on a mountainside. This led us to walk high in the sky, through the clouds, where a gigantic flying bird invited us to dance on his wings!
After dancing on our feathered friend, we hopped off his wings to land in the valley below. The sight we beheld was breathtaking. Next to a large golden cross flowed a powerful waterfall! The spray of the falls made a rainbow! At the end of the bow was something better than a pot of gold: it was the resurrected Jesus rolling the tomb stone away! We then discovered that we could walk into the tomb, investigate its treasures, then walk up a tall stairway that took us to the garden area above!
We gathered at the cross to dance and worship the Lord. Next, we learned about the
New Heavens and Earth
and listened from Genesis to the 6 days of
Creation
Following this was a special Bible study message for
Earth Day
We concluded with the inspirational song by Mandisa which showed us
God Speaking
in the sights and sounds around us. From beginning to end, this was an unforgettable night which I will always treasure in my memory. May God reveal His beauty in the lives of every member of the Christian Believers Fellowship!
All My love,
lol_mom
