REFLECTIONS ON 1ST CARREAU CHURCH ISLAND MEETING with CBF
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Please let me reflect upon the evening we spent together at the 1st Carreau Church Island hangout. We met under sunny skies overlooking gentle waters that ebbed and flowed under the pier. A large boat was in port with a familiar logo painted on its sails. A sign on poles announced our arrival to the 1st Carreau Church Island. Named in honor of his family, suntrust built this hangout for use in worship and personal inspiration. With the help of mating_eagle and His_Valentine_Angel, suntrust has created a retreat that glorifies God and touches not only the souls of his family, but of all who visit there.
A large covered dance floor near the pier had too much appeal to be resisted by our members. In no time, a big crowd had chosen their area of the brightly flashing disco floor, happy to strut their stuff to the praise music on the screen. Others stood nearby in front of the Church and began to share their prayer needs with each other. As visitors continued to arrive at the entrance, we found ourselves having an old-fashioned intercessory prayer meeting! Again and again, one would bring up a situation of desperate need for prayer, then another would lift up that burden for God's intervention. It was a very beautiful demonstration of the Body of Christ, uniting and healing us as we ministered to one another in His name.
After prayer and more dancing, we made our way into the 1st Carreau Church. With praying hands and marble walls for a backdrop, this sanctuary had an atmosphere of tranquility. A wedding cake decorated with teddy bears rested on a side table, perhaps from a ceremony of that same day. Black roses with a red glow decorated the frame around the exit door, another tribute to the wedding ceremony theme. A wide aisle separated two large areas of pews, and a teddy bear with a red collar whimsically grasped the pulpit with his Bible and microphone, as if he were preaching the sermon! We
assumed
he was pretend until we began to hear a male voice speaking to us from the front.
Whether it was the live broadcast on the flash frame or the Reverend T.D. Bear, we may never really know
. But we sure did hear some mighty fine preaching!
Since suntrust was occupied with the duties of real life, his father mating_eagle used his avatar to be sure we were hosted well. Eagle felt led of the Lord to share with us, via live broadcast, a message about self-discipline in Christian life. "God is more concerned with what we are, rather than what we do or know", he said. "We must not only know the Bible but
must also be doers of the Word (James 1:22). We cannot be doers of the Word, especially as it concerns our life, unless we are self-disciplined. A simple definition of Christian self-discipline is: the ability to stay away from sin and to do the things that please God. In other words, whenever a disciplined Christian hears God's Word condemning something, he will stop doing it. And when he hears God's Word commending something, he will do it."
After this moving sermon, we exited the Church to go explore. We went into a cave that had a sign "The Empty Tomb of Jesus". It was marked off with barriers, but some avatars won't take "NO" for an answer! They wanted to see if He had actually risen. (
tsk tsk, where is your faith?
) Their testimony (
and mine, I confess
) is that the tomb was empty! The
sepulcher of stone lay there empty, no bones about it. Indeed the Lord is risen! In the back of the cave was an unexpected large item with a special scriptural warning written on it. (
Go seek and ye shall find it!
)
On the next part of the island was a lovely prayer garden. The Lord's Prayer was posted there with a gold cross as the focal point of the landscaping. Purple graziella flourished there, representing the abundant life found in Christ. It was all set into a large stone planter box framed by evergreen bushes.
At the far end of the island was an outdoor baptismal pool built on a decked platform. A large gold cross stood boldly as a testimony to the only way of salvation, faith in the sacrifice of Calvary. As John had called for men to repent and be baptized in the river Jordan, so did we turn our hearts unto God at this baptistry. We lingered there in worship, dancing and
singing the songs of the Spirit.
I noticed that a visitor was dancing quietly with us so I began to private message her to extend welcome and comfort. She told me that she had been saved and Spirit-filled during childhood, but later wounded by the people of the Church. As an adult, she came to Kaneva to escape the outside world. She was convicted by the Holy Spirit every day when she used Kaneva to compromise her faith convictions. She had heard of our Christian community but laughed at the notion, because she no longer trusted Church people. However, in spite of her skepticism. she came to see if what we had was real. Her response was "
God lives in Kaneva! Who knew
?" She had been so lonely to worship with brothers and sisters in Christ again. Then she said, "I have a club hangout on Kaneva, but I am going to tear it down and make something to glorify God". And within the hour, she did indeed dismantle it, to the satisfaction of her soul. She told us "I love God! Jesus saved me! I know that we are living in endtimes and my Father calling me back in to his fold!"
Brothers and sisters, what honor we have been given to welcome the lost sheep back home to the Lord! May the love that we share on Kaneva bring forth many testimonies such as this! May the Spirit of the Lord move mightily through every member of the Christian Believers Fellowship!
All My Love,
