Dear CBF Family,
It is my joy to reflect upon the evening we spent together at the Underground Church! Rather than our typical meetings at hangout locations, this time we met in a hidden area, built in the backyard of RhapsodyBlue's home. The Lord has entrusted her with a heartfelt burden for the persecuted Church. Constructing this secret place was her way to honor our often forgotten brethren who suffer in silence around the world. She also built it to teach and prepare us for the possibility of persecutions that may come in our own lives. Our freedoms are not guaranteed, nor is a life of comfort and ease. But, we read in the book 1 Peter vs 12-13: "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy."
We arrived at the beautiful city loft residence of RhapsodyBlue. Our luxurious surroundings gave no indication that we would discover anything but a modern home. The back of the two-story house had several patio decks from which to view the built-in swimming pool, her Art Studio, and clothing store. To our surprise, we discovered the back deck led into a giant dance room that had a nightclub atmosphere! It was decorated with many neon lights and signs representing Americana fun. The Art Studio had multiple canvassed masterpieces on display, all created by RhapsodyBlue, a graphic artist in real life! She had flora, fauna, portraits, scenes, and more, both of abstract and realistic varieties. Visitors were amazed at her artistic talent and versatility. But, it was time for our meeting, so we made our way through the alleys, past the garden, down to the hidden area far below.
We finally arrived in a stone room with a giant boiler, where exposed pipes covered the entire back wall. It made for an unlikely sanctuary, but after all, that is what being an "Underground Church" is all about. There were photos of persecuted brothers in Nigeria at the entrance. Evidence of their suffering cut us to the heart and inspired us to pray on their behalf. We made our way to the pews and began to dance and sing in worship to the Lord. Next, RhapsodyBlue invited us to be seated for the film "Hell's Best Kept Secret" hosted by Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort. Taken from "The Way of the Master Basic Training Course," we learned of the tragic turn that modern evangelism has taken. Rather than offend people with the idea of judgment for their sins, many preachers now offer Christ simply as a feel-good addition to their lives. Their sin is not realized, much less regretted, so they do not repent or become transformed in their hearts. It is said that "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." In my opinion, no scenario proves it better than this one. After viewing this presentation, we determined in our hearts to present the true Gospel to all whom we meet, so that they might embrace the grace of God freely given through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
After the film, we lingered to pray and to worship. One by one, members and visitors asked for prayers to be offered from the others present in the room. We heard testimonies of CBF members who, after years of rebellion, had seen salvation come to their whole families. Strengthened and inspired by these stories, we were able to cast our cares on the Lord and trust Him fully. God inhabited our praises and gave us a spirit of unity and love. May God complete the work He has begun in every member of the Christian Believers Fellowship!
All My Love,
