Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It is my joy to reflect upon the evening we spent
together at Gingerbread Land! We arrived to grounds freshly covered
with powdery winter snow! A giant snowman with a mint-striped derby
welcomed us with a smile. One by one, Santas, reindeer, angels,
elves, and other merrymakers began to arrive, gazing at the scene
before us. Our haloed hostess lexluthorswife invited us to come and see
her mansion. "Don't eat my house!"
she warned us sternly, but with a wink. We walked up a pathway of candy
canes, gumdrops and jellybeans to behold a giant home filled with the
aroma of fresh gingerbread. The high pitched roof was covered with
sweet snowy icing, and a smiling gingerbread man above the entrance
seemed to reach out for a holiday hug. We walked through the double
doors to a large living room made of treats! Stockings were hung by the
chimney with care. A glass of milk and some cookies were set up nearby
for hopes of a soon visit by one very special Elf. A long dining table
was set with Christmas china, and fresh baked goods were ready to be
sampled. After a second glance at the portrait of an unlikely Santa,
(could that be Mr. Luthor?) we hopped up the steps to the
loft. There we found a candy-colored King sized bed! We crawled into
this cozy place just long enough to see visions of sugarplums dance in
our heads!
Next, we ventured outside, where two chilly
snowmen were warming their mittens by a campfire! More snowmen with
trumpets announced from the lot that there were plenty of trees ready
to be taken home. Some trees were brightly lit and others stood ready
for the children to decorate. As the winds picked up, we scurried into
the Igloo Cafe for hot cocoa and sweets. All the decor, even the tree
and the art reflected the white and blue colors found in glaciers of
Alaska. A restroom sign and a framed cartoon brought a chuckle to the
grown-ups as an arcade game machine kept their thawing kids busy. Upon
leaving the Cafe, who did we discovered was landing from their flight?
None other than Santa Claus in his sleigh, led by a herd of reindeer!
And who was the VIP passenger on that sleigh? Why, it was miniature
lexluthorswife, Santa's pet, whispering to him that she "was not indeed naughty, but nice!"
Nearby was a gigantic snow globe dance floor to
encompass either a waltzing couple or a party of carolers! Decorated
with snowflakes, the giant globe had an active snowfall inside! It was
an amazing thing to dance under this globe! It gave us the experience
of feeling so miniature, just as if we were the figures in a snow globe
on someone's shelf!
Next, lexluthorswife invited us to come to the
Lord's Manger! Pretty as a Christmas card, we beheld the Nativity
scene, even the little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay. The wise men
brought Him gifts as the shepherds beheld Him with wonder. And just
appearing from a long walk in the desert, a giant Bactrian camel came
by to pay his respects. His expression was so serene and so sweet, yet
somehow I couldn't help but laugh when I beheld this doubly-humped
wonder. Just as are all of us CBF members, this creature is certainly
uniquely made!
Near the manger scene were found more giant snow
globes and colorful Christmas trees. Next, standing in front of a
forest was a 40-foot tall smiling snowman holding his broom! He had
stopped sweeping to gaze at the village of Christmas light scenes
nearby. Next came a beautiful village of gingerbread houses of
brownstone! One even looked like the White House!
In the middle of Gingerbread Land was a giant stage
area carpeted in red velvet. It had two giant toy soldiers each 48 feet
tall. They were holding up a large projector screen while keeping an
eye on the behavior of those visiting Santa's wonderland. The stage was
filled with large wrapped presents for good avatars. Santa Claus
invited us to come sit with him in his big chair on the stage, so that
he might know our secret wishes. We waited patiently to chat while
humming along to the carols and enjoying the sights.
The ice rink looked so inviting that we all chose
to congregate there for the rest of the evening. Some danced on the ice
and others stood in the risers that surrounded it. Our host,
lexluthorswife, put on old fashioned Gospel music videos so many began
to sing and praise the Lord. "Lexy" began to testify of Jesus her
Savior then others joyfully followed suit, inspired by her bold faith.
Testimonies, prayers, praise and thanks were lifted in a spirit of
freedom. It was such a witness to the multitude of visitors who came by
on this night. They heard of the One true Savior, the King of Kings,
born in a lowly manger, to save us from our sins. Our faith was
strengthened and our joy was multiplied as we exalted the Lord
together. God is sharing with us the Gift of His love and the comfort
of His Holy Spirit. May Jesus continue to shower His blessings on every
member of the Christian Believers Fellowship!
All My Love,
