Five Years Later..........(Another entry from live… < Back

Today marks five years since the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington in 2001. It really feels like a long time ago.  I mean I was only a junior in high school! I still can remember where I was when it happened though. I was an office helper for my high school at the time and I was basically doing what I always do during this time.....absolutely nothing.....Then about 20 minutes into the period, our media teacher came into the office to tell us to turn on the TV because an airplane had accidentally run into one of the Twin Towers. Now I though to myself how can anyone accidentally run into a tower that tall?.....Maybe the pilot just doze off or something??.....so as we turned on the TV and watched we saw as a second plane ran into the other tower. That's when I realizes that this wasn't just an accident. I was worried about the people who were in the tower but I didn't really fear for my life yet there in Atlanta.....that was until I heard about the plane that was ran into the Pentagon. Then I realize that maybe the whole country was a target not just New York.....I mean I knew they weren't going to run a plane into little ol DSA, but I figured that they probably had more plans of attack up their sleeves that could effect even our city. After going to my second class which was some science class......( I can't remember whether it was chemistry or physics but I'm pretty sure it was chemistry....) it was announced over the PA system that we were under some kind of nationwide school shutdown so basically school was canceled for the day and we had to stay in the same room until either the buses came at the end of the day or our parents came to pick us up. So since both my parents work in the school system I had to stay there the whole day. As I stared out the window I realized that even the skies in Atlanta had a gloomy look to them. There were people around me scared and some even crying because they knew people in New York and were worried for their safety. Now I didn't know anyone in New York.... (yet)....so I kinda just sat there not really feeling much emotion waiting until it was time to go home. The days that came afterwards brought many news coverage and interviews from everyone imaginable. Football was stopped for a week. A lot of shows did some kinda of tributes, but ironically it didn't make me feel more patriotic or wanting to go fight for this country(which I will never do) but it just made me realize how bad this world had become and how I am glad I have a personal relationship with God in case something like this ever happens again......

Sadly, I don't really remember 9/11 for what happened in 2001 but actually for what happened in 2002. We had a 9/11 tribute at my high school where we would have singing and dance and all that good stuff, but it was me who started off the program by playing the national anthem on my saxophone. I was happy not because I was being patriotic by playing the Star Spangled Banner, but I was glad that I got a chance to play in front of my peers with a solo for the first time. I think it went well, I don't remember messing up or anything....Even more memorable of that day is it was one of the first times that I was asked if a certain person was my girlfriend or not. From that day  up until today.....(four years later).....that answer has been yes! 2002 is also the year we began what I like to call the "pointless" war.

Now I have watched Fahrenheit 9/11....wait if you don't what I'm talking about look here:

Fahrenheit 9/11

Anyway, now I'm not saying that it's all true and I'm not really going to give my opinion on who I think is really behind the attacks and who I think knew about it beforehand....(that could be a whole entry in itself but I'm not really the political type...) but I will say this. Don't put anything past the government......I agree with this statement even more now after finding out that they watched Martin Luther King up until his death, how there were CIA agents in the city where he was shot, and also how they moved further and further away from him right before he died.....it really makes you think about stuff differently. Well anyway, that's all for now kiddos. It has now been six entries in a row which I haven't done since I first started this journal April of last year. Well I guess I will write tomorrow just so I can break the record......don't know what it will be about though.....Until next time....
