You spoke loud and clear -- and we have listened and responded. We have taken additional steps to make sure the How Down Is
Your Sound? talent search remains a fair competition. We determined
that some participants violated our guidelines by inflating their
votes. Those votes have been removed. We will continue to
monitor the voting process and deal directly with the people who try to
undermine the spirit of this event. This is a competition designed
to reward your musical passion and talent with recognition--and
opportunity. Let's all live up to the spirit of that goal.

i agree with everyone about the cap that is one the IP address. I have several friends that work at companies with many computers and im trying to get their votes cast. However, because u placed a cap on votes I cannot get the votes in.. I believe that my votes are valid they are from different machines its unforutunate that they cannot vote for us This need to be addressed .

Several of my friends were visiting today and they have attempted to vote for one of my friends in the contest. After the 3rd person voted, it stated that the maximum # of votes from my computer had been allotted. No disrespect but this is unfortunate. You have brought forth a contest that is clearly looking for HipHop participants. The majority of participants and voters are minority...thus leading me to realize that some individuals are not fortunate enough to have their own computer(s) at home. Some have to rely on using the computers at work, in the library, or over relatives and friends homes. The protocol committee for this entire process should regroup and determine a more effective way to allow voters the opportunity to vote. While I am happy that you have established a way to cull the cheaters, it is frustrating not to be able to support my friend despite my assiduous attempts. Sad to say, but there are people who would will vote for this but not even care to vote for the president of the US. If people are willing to vote, then please find a way to make it simpler for them. Thanks.

Thats what I'm talking about Ryan, get them cheatin ass fools up outta here. Yeah the voting process is a lil rigid, but it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out how to vote, and if you have to cheat on your votes, then just How Down Is Your Sound, feel me? MPU out ...

Ryan, I signed up on Kaneva on Sept. 25th, I thought that I was all set for the contest but I recognize that I didnt upload my music thru the How Down Is Your Sound chanel. If you check then you can see that I had all of my music uploaded in time for the contest!!! Please help and put me in the contest!!! I deserve the right to compete!!! It doesnt matter to me that others have had a few days more to build votes. Please let me in!! Thanks

I like the new voting process but my little neices, nephews, friends, and family are trying to vote and they are unable. They have validated there emails and they are still unable to vote. We were told it was because they are voting on the same computer, but we are using library computers because that is all that is available. I'm sure over the course they have used the same computer twice maybe even three times. I don't feel like this process is working. Is there another way you could fix this voting situation.

The voting thing is not showing the people a easy way to vote my man, I got people who wanna vote but its like a task to even find the songs. I say this was good networking for me but bad promo, I got people who is signing up for the lil tryspace thing you got but they like where is yoour music. Last you got to much filler on the site my man, you could have pre screen the trash and left it at the door .

My feed back is concerning artists in the competition with more than one song taking up the top spaces from other artist. I feel that each artist should only be able to enter one song. Thats my comment. Thanks

The only feedback I can give is that a lot of the people I refer tell me that don't feel like filling out a membership just to be able to vote. It's not that they don't wanna support, a lot of people just dont want to feel obligated to join something they are not that familiar with just to be able to vote for their people in a contest.
While I do understand that one of the purposes of this whole contest is to get people to join Kaneva, I don't know if requiring a person to join to vote allows for a true picture of the voting preference of the public. Nor do I know if it gives validity to anyone's "Sound".
If we can acknowledge that votes can be inflated then obviously this system can be manipulated. Not only that but I think we also have to recognize factors like target demographic and regional bias that come into play here as well. Are these factors being taken into account with regards to the finalists?
How much of a role in this whole process do the judges play? When does talent override popularity? (because we all know, talent has NEVER been a prerequisite for popularity) I would think that a contest called "How Down Is Your Sound" would be based on the quality of the music and not how many people you can get to sign up for a service on one's behalf.
No disrespect, I'm just looking for a little clarification.
